WPL Updates: Player Replacements Shake Up the Lineups

UP Warriorz: Chinelle Henry Steps In for Alyssa Healy

As the third edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) approaches, teams have been making key player adjustments due to injuries and personal reasons. UP Warriorz have brought in West Indies’ all-rounder Chinelle Henry to replace Alyssa Healy. The Australian wicketkeeper-batter, who captained her team in the recent Women’s Ashes, will miss the WPL due to a foot injury.

Healy expressed her disappointment: “Sadly, it looks like I’ll be spending the next couple of months with my feet up,” she said. “I’m pretty bummed by that, but at the same time elated to have a little bit of downtime and try and get my body right.”

Henry, who has represented the West Indies in 62 T20Is, boasts 473 runs and 22 wickets. The all-rounder joins the Warriorz squad for ₹30 lakh, ready to add her experience and flair to the lineup.

RCB: Heather Graham and Kim Garth Join the Squad

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the defending champions, have made strategic changes to their squad. They’ve brought in Heather Graham and Kim Garth to replace Sophie Devine and Kate Cross, respectively.

Sophie Devine, the New Zealand all-rounder, has taken an indefinite break to focus on her well-being. Kate Cross, the England pacer, is recovering from a back injury, leaving spots open for new talent.

Heather Graham, the Australian all-rounder, has played five T20Is and taken eight wickets. Kim Garth, with extensive experience, has represented Australia in 59 T20Is, 56 ODIs, and four Tests. Garth, who previously played for Gujarat Giants, is known for her solid contributions with both bat and ball, accumulating 764 T20I runs and 49 T20I wickets. Both Graham and Garth join RCB for ₹30 lakh each.

WPL 2025 Begins February 14

The excitement builds as the third edition of the WPL kicks off on February 14 in Vadodara. With these new squad changes, the tournament promises to be as thrilling as ever!
