India Secures Davis Cup World Group I Spot with Dominant Doubles Win

Balaji-Bollipalli Clinch the Decisive Victory

India sealed its place in the Davis Cup World Group I after Sriram Balaji and Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli delivered a commanding 6-2, 6-1 win over Togo’s M’lapa Tingou Akomolo and Hod’abalo Isak Padio. Their 57-minute triumph at the DLTA Complex, New Delhi, gave India an unassailable 3-0 lead in the play-off tie.

Flawless Performance from the Indian Duo

Starting the day with a 2-0 advantage, India needed just one more win to clinch the tie, and Balaji-Bollipalli wasted no time. Balaji was near-perfect on serve, dropping just one point, while Bollipalli quickly found his rhythm after a shaky start.

Early Breaks Set the Momentum

India broke early in the first set, with Bollipalli’s sharp forehand return forcing an error. Balaji’s strong serving extended the lead, and a series of double faults from Akomolo handed India the set.

Sealing the Win with Authority

The second set followed a similar pattern, with India breaking early and shutting down Togo’s resistance. Under pressure, Padio lost his serve, and Bollipalli confidently closed out the match, securing a historic win.

Karan Singh Set for Davis Cup Debut

With the tie decided, India is likely to give young talent Karan Singh his Davis Cup debut in the upcoming dead rubber, offering him valuable experience at the international level.
