PV Sindhu Signs Lucrative Endorsement Deal Amid Mixed Performances

India’s Badminton Star Secures New Partnership Worth Rs 4 Crore Per Year

A Landmark Deal for PV Sindhu
In a groundbreaking move, India’s double Olympic medalist PV Sindhu has reportedly inked a four-year endorsement deal with a prominent sports equipment brand. This agreement is valued at an impressive Rs 4 crore annually, marking a significant milestone in Sindhu’s career. Sources reveal that Sindhu is in advanced talks with two global brands that specialize in technical equipment, both offering her the same lucrative deal.

The contract is set to continue for four years, signaling a promising future for the shuttler, especially after her previous endorsement with Li-Ning ended.

“Sindhu’s new deal reflects her marketability and the high regard in which she is held globally, despite mixed results in recent tournaments.”

A Year of Mixed Results for Sindhu
Although Sindhu’s recent performances on the Badminton World Federation (BWF) circuit have been inconsistent, she did break her title drought in December by winning the Syed Modi India International in a commanding victory against China’s Wu Luo Yu. This win ended a two-year dry spell for the Indian star, boosting her confidence going into the new year.

However, 2025 has started with some disappointment. Sindhu’s performance at the India Open in Lucknow ended with a quarterfinal finish, and she was eliminated in the first round at the Indonesia Masters, where she was defeated by Vietnam’s Nguyen Thuy Linh.

India’s Strong Contingent for Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships
Despite the ups and downs, Sindhu remains a key figure in Indian badminton and will lead the charge for the upcoming Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships, scheduled to take place in Qingdao, China, from February 11-16, 2025. The tournament will feature a strong 14-member Indian squad, with Sindhu and Paris Olympics semi-finalist Lakshya Sen representing the country at this prestigious event.

“The Indian team, with a mix of experience and emerging talent, is looking to improve on their bronze medal finish at the last edition of the championships held in Dubai in 2023.”

Indian Team Composition and Key Players
The Indian squad for the upcoming event will be filled with top-tier talent, including veterans and promising newcomers. Alongside Sindhu and Sen, HS Prannoy and Malvika Bansod will represent India in the singles categories. The doubles events will be led by the former world No. 1 combination, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, while the women’s doubles team will feature Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly, as well as experienced Olympians Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto.
