Premier League Transfer: Manchester United Agree to Pay Victor Osimhen’s Buyout Fee

Manchester United have reportedly taken a major step toward securing the services of Victor Osimhen, agreeing to pay his buyout fee as transfer speculation intensifies. The Premier League giants have made their move in the heated competition for the Napoli striker.

According to Sports Digitale journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, the Red Devils have verbally committed to paying Napoli the £65 million release clause required to sign Osimhen in the summer transfer window. However, United are not alone in the race, as Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have also tabled an offer to lure the prolific forward.

PSG and Manchester United have made verbal offers to players in relation to pay and contract time, as reported in  football 365.

Osimhen’s Reduced Release Clause and Failed Galatasaray Move

Earlier, they slashed Osimhen’s release clause from £100 million to £65 million after his loan stint at Galatasaray. Initially, people saw the Turkish club as the front-runner for a permanent transfer. However, recent developments indicate that Galatasaray has stepped away from negotiations, leaving Manchester United and PSG in direct competition for the 26-year-old Nigerian international.

Sabuncuoglu shed light on why an agreement between Osimhen and Galatasaray is now unlikely.

“Victor Osimhen is about to sign a world-renowned administrative association. In fact, these negotiations are being facilitated by a Real Madrid player. What does this mean? The possibility of an agreement with Galatasaray in June has decreased significantly,” he explained.

Manchester United’s Pursuit of Osimhen

Manchester United are determined to strengthen their squad and address their attacking concerns ahead of the next Premier League season. With Anthony Martial’s future uncertain and Rasmus Højlund still adapting, Osimhen emerges as an ideal candidate to lead United’s attack.

Why Manchester United Want Osimhen?

  • Proven goal-scoring ability: Osimhen has consistently delivered top performances for Napoli.
  • Premier League adaptability: His physical presence and pace make him well-suited for English football.
  • Long-term solution: At just 26 years old, he could be United’s main striker for years to come.

PSG’s Interest Adds Pressure

While Manchester United have made their intentions clear, PSG remain serious contenders. The French giants are actively searching for a replacement for Kylian Mbappé, who is widely expected to leave for Real Madrid in the summer. Osimhen’s style of play, work ethic, and finishing ability make him an attractive prospect for the Parisians as they rebuild their attacking force.

Final Thoughts

With Manchester United and PSG both making their moves, the battle for Victor Osimhen’s signature is heating up. United’s willingness to meet Napoli’s buyout clause demonstrates their strong intent, but the coming months will determine whether they can seal the deal ahead of their European rivals.

As the summer transfer window approaches, fans will eagerly await further developments on Osimhen’s next destination. Will Manchester United finally secure their marquee striker, or will PSG swoop in with a better deal?
