PCB Denies Removing Imran Khan’s Name from Gaddafi Stadium Enclosure

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has dismissed rumors that Imran Khan’s name would be removed from an enclosure at the newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

No Name Changes, Says PCB

With speculation swirling that the 1992 World Cup-winning captain’s name had been erased due to his incarceration on corruption charges, the PCB clarified:

“No names have been changed or removed on enclosures,” an official stated.

The Imran Khan Enclosure, a VIP stand, has been a permanent fixture since 1992, and will remain unchanged despite the country’s political climate.

Imran Khan’s Legal Struggles

Currently, Imran Khan is serving a prison sentence in Attock Jail, Punjab after being convicted in a corruption case. His wife, Bushra Bibi, has also received a seven-year sentence. Imran, who leads the Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, continues to deny all allegations, calling them politically motivated.

Champions Trophy Preparations Continue

With the ICC Champions Trophy set to begin on February 19, PCB is focusing on ensuring the Gaddafi Stadium’s renovations are completed in time.

What do you think—should politics and cricket remain separate, or do they inevitably intertwine?
