Kashvee Gautam: Gujarat Giants’ Rising Star Ready to Shine in WPL 2025

The highly anticipated third edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 is set to kick off on Friday, providing a crucial stage for Indian players aiming to make a mark for national selection. Among the many talents set to showcase their skills, Gujarat Giants’ (GG) fast-bowling all-rounder Kashvee Gautam stands out as a player to watch.

Kashvee Gautam’s Journey to Stardom

Kashvee Gautam first gained national attention in 2020 when she achieved a rare feat—picking up ten wickets in a single innings, including a hat-trick—while playing for Chandigarh in an Under-19 one-day match. Her incredible bowling performance put her on the radar of selectors and cricket enthusiasts alike.

In December 2023, the WPL 2024 auction recognized her talent and potential when she became the most expensive uncapped Indian cricketer in WPL history, securing a whopping ₹2 crore contract. However, an unfortunate injury delayed her much-anticipated debut.

Overcoming Setbacks: Kashvee’s Determination and Comeback

Despite the excitement surrounding her WPL debut, Kashvee Gautam suffered a stress fracture in her left toe, ruling her out of the 2024 season. This injury was a major setback for the young all-rounder, but she remained determined to make a strong comeback.

Her return to competitive cricket came in the 2024/25 Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy, where she displayed her resilience by taking seven wickets in six matches for Chandigarh. This performance reaffirmed her ability and readiness for the upcoming WPL season.

Gujarat Giants’ Key Weapon in WPL 2025

As Gujarat Giants prepare to face defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their WPL 2025 opener in Vadodara, Kashvee Gautam’s pace, precision, and finishing ability will be crucial for her team. Known for her aggressive bowling style and ability to generate high speeds, she is expected to be a valuable asset both with the ball and the bat.

Reflecting on her growth and preparation, Kashvee shared her insights:

“Last year, I was with the team in Bangalore for some time. I saw what I was missing out on and realized what I could contribute. After recovery, I worked on my range hitting, focused on finding scoring areas—not just in front but also behind the wicket. I also developed bowling variations, as WPL offers very little margin for error.”

Confident in her abilities, she further added:

“My domestic season went well, and my economy rate was strong. I am confident about performing my best in the upcoming matches. My goal is to take as many wickets as possible in the powerplay and maintain a low economy rate. I also want to finish games in my role as a finisher.”

A Strong Team with Renewed Energy

With a revamped coaching staff, barring head coach Michael Klinger, and a new captain in Ashleigh Gardner, Gujarat Giants are looking to improve from their previous bottom-placed finishes in the WPL. Kashvee believes that the team has developed great chemistry and is ready to turn things around this season.

“The group is looking strong. We have been bonding well since last year, and everyone has gelled together easily. It doesn’t feel like we come from different domestic teams—it feels like we’ve been playing together for years.”

Conclusion

As WPL 2025 unfolds, Kashvee Gautam’s comeback story adds an exciting narrative to the tournament. With her sharp bowling, powerful hitting, and hunger to prove herself, she is set to make a significant impact for Gujarat Giants. Fans and cricket experts will be keenly watching as she takes the field, ready to leave her mark on the biggest stage of her career.
