Davenport Assesses Swiatek’s Form for Indian Wells

Former World No. 1 Lindsay Davenport has shared her thoughts on Iga Swiatek as the Polish star prepares to defend her title at Indian Wells. Despite Swiatek’s strong reputation, Davenport believes she looks stressed and not as composed on the court.

Swiatek’s Recent Struggles

Swiatek has faced setbacks since winning the French Open in June 2024. She started 2025 with a semifinal finish at the Australian Open, losing to Madison Keys. However, her performances in the Middle East tournaments were below expectations. Davenport pointed out that Swiatek’s on-court body language suggests frustration, possibly due to a coaching change or inconsistent results.

Indian Wells as a Turning Point

Despite recent struggles, Davenport still sees Swiatek as the favorite at Indian Wells. She emphasized that one tournament, match, or set can spark a turnaround for any player. Swiatek has twice won this tournament (2022, 2024), and the court conditions favor her style.

Coaching Support

Since October 2024, Swiatek has been working with Wim Fissette. Though their partnership has yet to yield a title, his guidance could help her regain top form.

Swiatek remains a top contender, and all eyes will be on her to see if she can overcome recent challenges and reclaim her dominance.
