Indian cricket star Virat Kohli, accompanied by his wife, actor Anushka Sharma, and their children, recently sought solace and blessings from Premanand Maharaj at his ashram in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh. The visit comes at a time when Kohli finds himself under immense scrutiny following a string of poor performances in the Border-Gavaskar Test series against Australia.

Tough Times on the Field

Kohli’s recent form has been a cause of concern, with the batter managing only 190 runs in nine innings during the five-match series against Australia, despite a century in the opening Test. India lost the series 1-3, and criticism poured in from fans and former cricketers alike, with some even questioning Kohli’s and skipper Rohit Sharma’s future in international cricket.

As the Indian team shifts focus to the upcoming white-ball series against England, Kohli appears to have taken this break to rejuvenate mentally and spiritually.

A Devout Couple Seeking Peace

Virat and Anushka have long been devoted followers of Lord Krishna, often participating in spiritual events and prayers. During their visit to Premanand Maharaj’s ashram, the couple, along with their children, Vamika and Akaay, were seen taking blessings from the revered priest.

In a heartfelt moment captured on video and widely shared on social media, Anushka expressed her deep connection to the ashram and its teachings. She recalled how her earlier visit left many of her internal questions answered, even without directly voicing them:

“The last time I came, I had a few questions in my heart. I wanted to ask them, but others seemed to ask similar questions. Later, I found answers through ‘Kanti Vartalap.’ All I seek now is your blessings for devotion and love.”

The priest, visibly moved, lauded the couple’s humility and devotion, saying:

“Embracing a spiritual path requires rare courage and humility, especially for those with global fame. Anushka’s dedication is certain to deeply influence and inspire Virat’s own journey.”

New Beginnings Ahead

Kohli’s visit to Vrindavan also coincides with significant transitions in his cricketing career. Having announced his retirement from T20Is after India’s triumph at the T20 World Cup 2024, Kohli will now focus on the ODI and Test formats.

India’s next assignment is a white-ball series against England, starting January 22 in Kolkata. The team will then gear up for the Champions Trophy 2025, where India will face Bangladesh in their opening match on February 20 in Dubai.

Finding Strength in Spirituality

For Kohli, who is often regarded as one of the fiercest competitors on the field, this visit to Vrindavan reflects his ongoing journey to find balance amidst professional challenges. It serves as a reminder that even the most celebrated athletes need moments of introspection and spiritual grounding.

As fans eagerly await Kohli’s return to form, his time at Premanand Maharaj’s ashram may mark the beginning of a renewed chapter in his illustrious career, fueled by faith, resilience, and family support.
